HIGHLIGHTS
Program
portability - Programs can
be run on any size of the AS/400. Small AS/400's at a remote
branch office can update a larger system at head office in a
distributed processing application. Or, remote terminals and
printers can access the main system over communications lines.
Software is also available for earlier System/36 products.
Multiple
companies/Multiple Databases - The ability to
store unique company dependent information allows this system to
support general ledger accounting for multiple companies. All
reports and journals recognize these criteria.
Security system
- Through the use of security
sign-on codes, selected users can be restricted in the programs
they use, and even the routines that they may access in each
program. MIS Spirit/400 software is fully compliant with IBM
level 20, 30, 40 and 50 security.
Ease of
operation - The system has
been designed for ease of operation through the use of
"menu" screens and operator prompting. By simply
selecting "night or month-end routine" from your
control menu, all daily, monthly and yearly routines are
completely automatic.
User
friendliness - Using an edit format for each input screen
all keyed information is checked and verified to insure that it
meets numeric and/or alpha character requirements.
Modular system
- Certain MIS modules may be
run as a standalone system or may be integrated to work with the
other modules.
System checks
- Through
the use of extensive edit checks the system continually verifies
that data is input correctly and that all routines are performed
before the next logical function is undertaken.
Constantly
balanced - The MIS Spirit/400 software requires that
all GL postings balance to zero. This is relevant from the
journal posting to the period end routines. Every batch must
proof to zero before the system will let you exit the journal
posting screen. At period endings, the program automatically
posts the income summary to a designated retained earnings
account, thus always maintaining a zero proof.
